The visually inconspicuous moringa tree, which originally comes from the Himalayan region of northwest India, has numerous names, such as "horseradish tree", "tree of life" or "miracle tree". As diverse as the names of this multi-talent are, so is its use: traditionally, the leaves as well as the roots, fruits and seeds of this extremely fast-growing tree are consumed, which makes it an interesting food source in many tropical and subtropical regions.
Moringa oleifera has earned the title of "miracle tree": almost all parts of the tree are edible or can be used in other ways, the leaves in particular are praised as being particularly rich in nutrients, which is why Moringa is often called a "power food". In Europe, it is the dried leaves that are particularly popular as a finely ground powder.
