Heavy metals. Ubiquitous in nature, they are difficult for our body's own detoxification machinery to eliminate. Even small amounts can accumulate in our bodies and have a negative impact on our health in many ways. To remedy this, we can once again turn to nature - because the volcanic mineral zeolite, in the form of a strictly controlled and ultra-fine ground medicinal product, is a true natural talent in detoxification and offers additional protection against an excessively permeable intestinal wall (leaky gut).

What is zeolite and what are the benefits?

Zeolite is a natural mineral (silicate) of volcanic origin, which has an enormous surface in nature. Due to its porous properties, the crystalline substance is able to absorb certain substances in its cavities from hollows and channels. In particular, the clinoptilolite zeolite is valued for its superior properties as a filter and adsorbent for the removal of pollutants.

Zeolite is used to strengthen the intestinal wall barrier and support detoxification by binding ammonium and heavy metals in the gastrointestinal tract.

The effect of zeolite on the body

Clinoptilolite zeolite** passes through our digestive system like a special sponge. The detoxifying effect is due to its physical properties: Its complex microchannel system captures environmental pollutants* and exchanges them for minerals on its surface. The intestine does not absorb either the zeolite itself or the pollutants bound to it. Instead, the zeolite leaves the body completely and safely with its pollutant load and thus protects it from new pollutant absorption.

* Ammonium and heavy metal ions – in particular lead, cadmium, arsenic, chrome and nickel
** are generally referred to simply as “zeolite” in the further article.

Overview of the most important properties & effect of zeolite

  • Microporous natural mineral of volcanic origin
  • Acts in the intestine as a specific pollutant filter
  • Transports ammonium and heavy metal ions – in particular lead, cadmium, arsenic, chromium and nickel – safely from the intestine
  • Mitigates “leaky gut” and symptoms based on it
  • Regenerates and strengthens the intestinal wall barriers (tight junctions)

Time for detoxification

Our body is a master of detoxification. It continually cleans itself via sophisticated detoxification processes. But our modern lives are increasingly burdening the cleaning and regulation system. Environmental influences such as contaminated air, poisonous spraying and cleaning agents, plastic foam and a wide range of chemicals require detoxification and burden our well-being – even making us sick*. It is therefore all the more important to relieve the system and to remove harmful substances from the intestines.

Clinoptilolite zeolite: Detoxifying with the power of nature

The natural mineral clinoptilolite zeolite comes to our aid here in the form of a strictly tested medical product, which is a class act in the matter of detoxification. Like a special sponge, its enormous surface absorbs environmental pollutants* in our intestines and thus prevents these hazardous substances from entering our organism. Securely bound to the zeolite, the pollutant cargo is excreted from our body via the stool. The zeolite application protects and relieves the intestines and the body – many pollutants do not enter our organism at all.

* Ammonium and heavy metal ions – in particular lead, cadmium, arsenic, chrome and nickel

What is the difference between adsorption and absorption?

Adsorption (adsorbent, adsorb) refers to the adhesion of substances to the surface of a solid. The term should not be confused with absorption, in which the substances penetrate into the interior of a solid or a liquid.

Clinoptilolite zeolite: Detoxification effect confirmed in studies

Zeolite has demonstrated its detoxifying properties in several studies (1–4). In a clinical study, the 7- or 30-day intake of zeolite increased the heavy metal excretion of the user radically in some cases (1). In a further observational study, the lead concentration in the blood of miners decreased by 90% after 25 days of using zeolite (2).

Intestinal health barometer

As the oldest organ system in the body, the intestine is not only the origin of our existence – it is also the starting point of our well-being and our health. If the intestines are working well, we are working well – if the intestines are having problems, we also feel out of balance.

Alarm in the intestine

Numerous stress factors such as environmental pollutants, intensive sports training or stress can block our intestines and weaken its barriers. If the highly sensitive intestinal mucous membranes have been damaged, undesirable substances enter the body more easily, while the absorption of micronutrients may be impaired.

Clinoptilolite zeolite: Natural tools to strengthen intestinal wall barriers

Clinoptilolite zeolite gives a “leaking” bowel natural protection. As a strictly tested medical product, the natural mineral frees the intestines from a range of pollutants and relieves the burden on both the intestines and the body. This cleaning process also benefits a “leaky” intestinal wall (leaky gut), which then has the chance to regenerate, to regain its filter and protective function and to alleviate the associated symptoms, thanks to the zeolite application.

The following studies confirm: Clinoptilolite zeolite for the treatment of a leaky gut (5)(6)

In 2015, an Austrian placebo-controlled double-blind study confirmed that zeolite provides valuable help with a leaky gut: 52 athletes aged 25 to 50 years had increased zonulin concentrations (laboratory marker for leaky gut) in the stool. After a 12-week daily intake of 1.85 g zeolite, the increased zonulin values fell by 30% to the normal physiological range. Zeolite thus helped the “leaking” intestine to regenerate and regain its filter and protective function (5).

Things worth knowing about the use of zeolite in practice

Use and dosage of zeolite

Zeolith ultrafine is recommended for internal use and should be taken immediately with a meal. One level measuring spoonful of zeolite powder is stirred into a large glass of water (250 ml) every day. Alcoholic, caffeinated or acidic drinks, such as grapefruit, orange and pineapple juice, are NOT recommended for co-administration with zeolite.

During zeolite therapy, care should be taken to ensure adequate hydration in the form of water or other non-alcoholic beverages.

How long should you take zeolite for?

You should take zeolite for a maximum of 28 days. If you repeat the course, a break of at least one week should be observed. Zeolite ultrafine is not intended for continuous use.

Zeolite & medications

People who are taking medications at the same time should ensure that there is a time interval of two hours between the medications and the zeolite preparation. Unless otherwise prescribed, the medications should be taken before the clinoptilolite zeolite.

Side effects of zeolite

In rare cases, constipation (constipation) may occur during the use of zeolite. This is often due to insufficient fluid intake and can be eliminated by drinking more.
